FEATURES: This loop hike provides top of the world views, peregrine falcons, a vortex site, and a stroll along Oak Creek.
LEVEL:
Difficult
HIKING TIME: three hours roundtrip.
DISTANCE FROM THE INTERSECTION OF 179A And 89A: Approximately 5-10
minutes.
DESCRIPTION: This hike combines an unmarked trail with a Forest Service trail. The first leg climbs to the top of a famous Sedona monument. The views are one of a kind and sometimes the peregrine falcon family that maintains a nest in the spires can be seen. It is considered a spiritual
area by most locals and a vortex site by many others. The second half of the loop follows a wash down the other side of the monument. If you follow the photos and compare them to what you see it is not difficult to find your way down. Once you have navigated your way down the monument, the hike leads to the banks of Oak Creek and follows its course back to the trailhead.
DRIVING DISTANCE: 10 minutes from the intersection of SR 89A and SR 179.
