FEATURES: A natural bridge and Indian ruins framed by a beautiful canyon. Unusual rock formations. For the careful observer--
fossils populate the area. Views of Bear Mountain.
LEVEL: Easy-moderate (the side trail up to the arch is moderate and can be slippery. I suggest a hiking stick). HIKING TIME: Approximately 40 minutes one way (allow 30
minutes more to visit the arch). If you continue past Roar Lion Rock then add another 30 minutes each way. DRIVING TIME FROM THE INTERSECTION OF 89A AND SR 179: About twenty minutes.
DESCRIPTION: This canyon hike is flat and easy.
However if you choose to view the bridge it requires
managing a trail which we think is moderate in
difficulty. Also if you hike past Roaring Lion Rock, the
trail from there on is not an official one and is narrow
but still moderate. I always enjoy this hike. I call this arch Angel's Bridge, since there is a story spread by locals that the canyon is so beautiful--
that after dusk the angels use the bridge to come back to earth since they can not bear to be away from the beauty of this canyon for even one day.
