| LIGHTNING ONLY STRIKES ONCE |

FEATURES: Panoramic views, unusual rock formations.
This trail leads to one of the most famous and completely accessible monuments in the area.
LEVEL: Moderate.
HIKING TIME: Approximately 2 hours roundtrip.
DRIVING TIME FROM THE INTERSECTION OF 89A AND SR 179: About five minutes
DESCRIPTION: This hike begins on an official
Forest Service trail. It climbs through hills
and valleys of pinion and cypress trees until it
reaches one of the most recognizable monuments
in the area. The route makes a gentle climb to
the top of this monument where you can see in
every direction. After which this hike snakes to
the other side and then circumnavigates that
monument on a unusual and potentially difficult
route (don't worry the step by step photos will
guide you). The first part of this trail is shared by bikes, horses and hikers. so the best time to take it is on a weekday if you want to avoid the crowds. Jeep tours also use a road which
is near the trail however, the area is so unique I still love this hike.
